The fallout for relations between Israel and Turkey continues after last month's commando raid on an aid flotilla bound for Gaza. The latest is a snub from Ankara that forced a flight carrying Israeli military officers bound for Poland to divert around Turkish airspace.

Quoting Israel's Yediot Ahronot newspaper, the Associated Press reports:

The transport plane, with more than 100 officers on board, was forced to make a detour, the paper said.

The Israeli military "refrained from responding officially to the event so not to exacerbate the rift in relations," the newspaper added.

The Israeli prime minister's office had no comment.

The BBC, citing a senior Turkish official, says the ban on Israeli overflights does not apply to commercial traffic and that it would affect military flights only on a "case-by-case basis."
